It took me a long time to find the support for the family story, but I finally did. Henry or Heinrich Sauerwein met his wife to be Sophia Reuther on a ship crossing the Atlantic. But in the crossing, while headed for NYC, the wind died down for a long period. They had a dance to pass the time and while having this dance a fierce storm came upon them and drove the ship off course. It finally came to America in New Orleans - one of the first ships to this port after being won over by the Great Army of the Republic. Sophia swore, that she would never dance again, and they say she never did. I finally found their names on the ships manifest, because of her name. Right next to her on the list was Heinrich Fauerwein, with an "F". At least that is how it was filed. But looking at the handwriting, it is a clear capital "S". They came on the Jeanne Alice, a French ship, all the way from Le Havre. There is more work to do, but it was a good find.
