  1. I am from Hampshire in England, OH! how I wish I could be with you all at RootsTech. Naturally I shall take advantage of the website to see you there – and I am looking forward to the new version 8 to be released soon.
Keep up the good work, Bruce!
    Kind regards
    Joseph Burdett

  2. Wish those RM8 demos could be posted here on the website so those who can’t attend in person could view them.

  3. It would be great if the 20 minute previews of RootsMagic 8 at the booth could be made available to view online after RootsTech please.
    Many thanks.

  4. I have worked on my family’s genealogy since 1978. I have been a RootsMagic user since day one… I was a Family Origins user until you sold it and let them destroy it in place of their second rate program.. I am looking forward to the release of RootsMagic 8, and know I will love it as long as it continues to handle “Sources” like you have always done. I value the way I can put everything I know about a source, including images, transcripts, details, and comments, all in the master source and access it from anyone linked to the source. I have not “pre-purchased” 8 by buying another copy of 7 because I trust the new price will be reasonable, as your products have always been. I tried many other genealogy programs between Family Origins and RootsMagic, including the product of Family Origin’s Buyer, and found them all so Mickey Mouse, I went back to PAF until RootsMagic was born. Please keep up the good work. I worry that 8 is being more difficult to complete than you expected, but trust you will keep the functionality and integrity of RootsMagic first and formost in this endever.

  5. I have been using Roots 7 for many years. Was so excited when i saw that I was able to upgrade to 8. I sent payment by Amer Express Card, clearing on Dec 19, 2019. Received notice saying it would be shipped to me in 2 days. Have received nothing to date. (Did not know how to contact you regarding this.) Would it be possible, at this late date, to just download, changing my Roots Magic 7 to 8? Please advise.

  6. Some day my ‘Roots Magic8″ will come.
I pray that I live that LONG.
I know my new computer will have the ROM.
In the meantime I’ll watch king KONG.

My ancestors and cousins will shout
and I will be so happy.
My wife will wish me from the house OUT.
but my computer speed will be zappy. (sorry)

My wife will not know her ‘husby”
    all thanks to Bruce Busby.

    @gpark – customer since the 1980’a
now I’m almost in my 80’s.

  7. Are you planning to make available the RootsTech RM8 classes for those of us who couldn’t attend?

  8. During the 33 minute overview video of RM*, why didn’t we see any demonstration of the FamilySearch feature. Are there changes to the FS tool in RM8?

  9. One thing I’d like to be able to do is to export/import the sources for a file, or part of the sources. I know it may not be possible, but it’s something that can be useful.

Reply: You can already do that is RootsMagic 7, and it will be in 8. Go to File>Import Lists and you can select to import your Source and/or Source Templates.

  10. There is no way that I could have got to Roots Rech. Just too many $$$$$
I too would like to be able to access the 20 min intro online.
In my local genealogy circles where I tutor genealogy and assist with tricky research, I avidly promote RootsMagic.
Also I provide RM7 user assistance in my province.
Being able to show RM8 would really help.
It is rather pointless for me to purchase another copy of RM7 just to get the add-ons. I would hope that RM8 will be available to existing users via RM7 itself at a very respectable price.

Reply: A RootsTech demonstration on RootsMagic 8 was recorded and posted on our Facebook group.

  11. I agree with Bob, would be nice to get a demo online for those of us who are from overseas. Looking forward to the new release

  12. Am I the only user that notices that RootsMagic has not responded to any of its users’ requests on information about whether there has been ANY progress on RootsMagic8 since their November (5 months ago!) declaration that they wouldn’t say anything about when it would be available?

    Curiouser and Curiouser
as Alice in Wonderland would say….

Reply: There has been a lot of progress on RootsMagic 8 in the last 5 months. Development has been to busy to put out updates. There is a RootsTech demonstration that was recorded on RM8 that gives a quick overview – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wkcXFfXhxM&t=383s
