Wow! I have used RootsMagic 2 and 3 and love the program, but haven’t been following the blog to see what is going to be in version 4. I just read the PDF of all the changes and find them incredible! Wonderful! My only question is — what happens, when I get version 4, to all the customized facts I added to my version 3? Will it somehow recognize those or will I have to re-input those facts?
Lynn
I can’t answer your question for sure, but check out “The Book” at

for more info. Maybe Bruce will answer this for you.
Is this a demo or temporary free thing for which we will have pay after 30 days or so? Or is it an upgrade of what I already have which is that last upgraded one?
I have rootsmagic 3 and because I have Vista I was very appreciative of the fact that it supported Vista. I like the new layouts in rm4 and I am going to put it to the test on a large database of over 8000 people. Thank you for the allowing me to beta test in the community situation and I would like to know how to purchase it even though I am not sure if I will be able to afford it. Again thank you for allowing me to beta test it.
I was hoping to see an import/export feature for the address book. If it is included in one of the features I may have missed it. I like the many features though.
I just downloaded my version 4 and want to import my files from RootsMagic three and I am not able to. Is there a simple way of doing that?
Anonymous, just do File > Import from the RM4 menu, then choose RootsMagic (1-3) and select the file you want to import.
I have just purchased and installed Version 4. I’m having difficulty finding my way around and it’s my understanding that a manual is to be avauilable this month (August 2009. Any suggestions as to how I can get started?
Stu, the book has gone to the printer so the timing is now in the hands of the printer and the trucking company that delivers them. I would expect 4-5 weeks.
How do I get an operations manual for RootsMagic 4?
Harold, you can go to http://rootsmagic.com/orders_rm.htm to order the book “Getting the Most Out of RootsMagic”.
